The


Welder/Fitter

will be responsible for performing welding, fitting and other fabrication duties while ensuring quality, efficiency and production objectives are achieved by following the appropriate regulations, best practices and Fero’s standards.


Responsibilities:
Fabricate and/or repair according to blueprints, technical drawings, layouts, or specific work orders by welding metal components together.
Lay out reference points and symbols on the structural steel according to the blueprint.
Fit mating parts together according to blueprints.
Use cranes, rigging and hoists to move materials to and from workstation.
Operate welding equipment to fuse metal segments using processes such as flux-cored arc welding.
Set up and operate various equipment such as torches, drills, various clamping tools, squares, disc grinders and other hand held tools.
Grind, cut and priming of metal.
Possesses a working knowledge of welding materials and equipment.
Identify and communicate production problems as they arise and take action to correct upon approval from the Supervisor or Production Manager.
Document and report on completed tasks, keeping accurate records of work performed.
Maintain safe work environment by observing and following standards and procedures; complying with regulations and codes.
Ability to work overtime and/or weekends if required.
Ensure that all business activities are performed with the highest ethical standards and in compliance with the Fero Code of Business Conduct.
May perform other duties as assigned to meet the ongoing needs of the organization.

Qualifications:
Strong background in structural fitting and welding of structural assemblies.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints and read a tape measure in both metric and imperial.
Ability to operate rigging harnesses and overhead cranes.
Current or previous ticketed with CWB an asset, all positions.
Familiarity with hand tools, power tools, and testing equipment used in the trade.
Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Knowledge of current industry trends and practices.



Physical Requirements:
Must stand for long periods, with frequent lifting up to 50lbs.
Able to work in all weather conditions including outdoors.
Bending, crouching, kneeling, lifting, tight spaces and ladder use
Working at heights
Wearing PPE such as safety boots, safety vest, safety glasses and gloves.
