Vice President, Communications & Public Affairs Job Description Vice President, Communications & Public Affairs Doctors of BC Location: Vancouver, BC Doctors of BC is a professional association representing more than 17,000 physicians, residents, and medical students in British Columbia. The organization promotes a social, economic, and political climate in which its members can provide the citizens of BC with the highest standard of healthcare while achieving maximum professional satisfaction and fair economic reward. Due to retirement, Doctors of BC is looking for a strategic and dynamic communications leader with a keen interest in public service and healthcare to join as the new Vice President, Communications and Public Affairs. The Vice President will report directly to the Chief Executive Officer and be an essential member of the Senior Management Team. The Vice President is responsible for promoting, enhancing, and protecting the organization’s strong reputation, as well as the development, integration, and implementation of a range of communications activities related to the strategic positioning of the organization. The Vice President will work closely with representatives from the government and other partner groups to communicate on critical initiatives. The ideal candidate will be a service-oriented public relations and communications leader, well-versed in a wide range of communications programs and initiatives, including event coordination and promotion, print and web-based publications, and media, public and government relations, and member activities. A trusted advisor and critical thinker, the Vice President will build an influential and progressive communications strategy with a long-term vision.
