SUMMER STUDENT – MAINTENANCE ASSISTANT


TERM:

May 6, 2024 to August 23, 2024 (approximate)


LOCATIONS:

Various schools within Renfrew County


SCHEDULE:

8 hours per day, 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday


DUTIES:

Assist maintenance staff with variety of duties including carpentry, electrical, plumbing, painting and general maintenance.


POSITION


SUMMARY:

Working under the general supervision of the Facility Services Foreperson or Area Supervisor, candidates will assist personnel with duties at various Board locations.


Applicants should be enthusiastic with a willingness to learn, able to follow both oral and written instructions and able to work well both individually and with others. Safety boots will be required and be the responsibility of the successful candidates.

Successful candidates must have a driver’s license and their own vehicle for transportation to and from their work location.

Students who are required to travel between their main location and other worksites may be eligible to claim mileage according to the Board’s Travel & Expense Reimbursement Procedure.



Only students returning to a program of study (secondary or post-secondary) will be considered.

Funding for one or more of these positions may be provided by the Ontario Public Service through the Summer Experience Program.
