Francis Xavier Secondary, Milton Effective Date: July 22nd – August 30th, 2024 Salary: $16.55 per hour This is a temporary position commencing Monday, July 22nd, 2024, terminating no later than Friday, August 30th, 2024. Funding for this position has been provided by the Ontario Public Service through the Summer Experience Opportunity Program .

Hours of work will consist of seven (7) hours per day; twenty-eight (28) hours per week (Monday to Thursday), at a rate of $16.55 per hour. In addition, the Board Office is closed the week of August 5th through 9th, 2024.

Hours will be revised to thirty-five (35) hours per week (Monday to Friday), effective Monday, August 19th, 2024. DUTIES This is an exciting project for students who will be given the opportunity to work alongside the Graduation Coach for Black Students to develop programs that will benefit junior students as they enter secondary school.

These programs will include mentorship and leadership building. Additionally, students will build a sense of community and belonging which will in turn increase future student engagement.

The team will work with feeder schools to gain a list of students that would benefit from transition support and mentorship. QUALIFICATIONS Excellent reading, writing, organizational and communication skills.

Excellent interpersonal skills. Independent worker; self-starter.

Understanding and insight into the needs of developing programming in this area. Analytical and problem-solving skills; attention to detail.

Excellent computer skills (Word / Windows) Capacity to engage members of diverse communities and skilled in a variety of consultation techniques, protocols and strategies.
