<p><h3>Overview</h3><p>Senior Project Engineer - Transportation role at GHD. To be successful, you must have a minimum of 10+ years of experience in transportation engineering, design and design coordination on large scale transportation projects including highways, roads, transit, and multi-modal infrastructure (LRT/BRT). The Senior Project Engineer will cooperate and work closely with other members of the multi-disciplinary team, regional team leads across Ontario, Canada, North America and GHD’s global network.</p><p>Working with an energetic and high performing team, this position offers a variety of work and will see you involved in leadership of transportation engineering design and project coordination across multiple transportation modalities.</p><h3>Responsibilities</h3>
<ul>
<li>Lead and develop transportation engineering design for roadway, highway and freeway projects, and/or multi-modal corridors including median LRT/BRT.</li>
<li>Coordinate the preparation of civil deliverables, drawings and details from conception to final design in a 3D modelling environment (e.g., Civil 3D), following established standards and procedures.</li>
<li>Lead small teams of engineers and/or designers to drive design phases and implement design standards on high-complexity transportation projects.</li>
<li>Mentor and supervise junior staff and EITs/Technicians, fostering a team approach.</li>
<li>Review and oversee the preparation of models and drawings; develop detailed drawings, quantities and supporting documents (technical memos, specifications, contract documents) with minimal guidance.</li>
<li>Collaborate with other engineering disciplines to produce high-quality project deliverables.</li>
<li>Communicate with discipline leads, designers, and project team members to ensure timely flow of information and adherence to schedule, budget, and quality standards.</li>
<li>Maintain contact with sub-consultants, municipalities, utility companies and clients.</li>
<li>Oversee preparation of reports and contract documents for review agencies, clients, and the public.</li>
<li>Work in Design-Bid-Build and Design-Build procurement environments.</li>
<li>Adhere to GHD BIM and Quality standards and implement compliance at the project level.</li>
<li>Participate in advancement of GHD Standard Civil/Transportation Details, including changes, updates, and training development.</li>
<li>Identify opportunities for career development in design lead, design management, or project management roles and potential future supervision opportunities.</li>
</ul>
<h3>What you will bring to the team</h3>
<ul>
<li>Post-secondary degree in Civil Engineering</li>
<li>10+ years’ experience in design and engineering of transportation infrastructure projects</li>
<li>Ontario P.Eng designation required (or eligible) (Mandatory)</li>
<li>Positive attitude, good communication and interpersonal skills</li>
<li>Proven track record of successful delivery of Transportation Engineering projects</li>
<li>Strong familiarity with road and highway design philosophies and geometric design principles (e.g., TAC Geometric Guidelines), Ontario design standards (OPSS), roadside safety design, and client standards (e.g., MTO)</li>
<li>Experience with 3D modelling of corridors using Civil 3D or OpenRoads/InRoads (Preferred)</li>
<li>Proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D and/or MicroStation</li>
<li>Attention to detail, problem solving and organizational skills</li>
<li>Ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team environment and manage multiple parallel projects</li>
<li>Knowledge of BIM Collaboration tools (e.g., ProjectWise, BIM 360, Autodesk Construction Cloud) (Preferred but not required)</li>
<li>Strong communication skills for team-based working environment</li>
<li>Ability to work under tight deadlines</li>
