We promote prosperity for our people, our troops, our economy, and our land.CANDIDATE PROFILEReporting to the Engineering Manager, the Senior Designer is responsible for designing various mechanical devices that will be vital in developing machinery and/or large structures, working closely with our team of Project Managers, Shop Personnel to ensure project success. The Senior Designer position requires a lateral thinker, able to navigate complexity and embrace ambiguity.RESPONSIBILITIESThe essential duties and responsibilities of the job include but are not necessarily restricted to the following.Work on a variety of custom design projects which include items such as special purpose machinery, conveyors, platforms, material handling, and other systems used primarily in the food and pharma industries Using layout diagrams, sketches, and notes to create 3D drawings of equipment Participate in Kickoff meetings, liaise with Project Managers, and other stakes holders to ensure project success throughout the project Taking ownership of projects, sticking with them from concept to design, fabrication, and installation Develop extensive knowledge of product line, preferred practices, and all applicable industry standardsRegularly communicate project status with key stakeholdersLead and contribute to product development, product realization and continuous improvement projects by working cross functionally with the Innovation and Manufacturing groups Creation, expansion and maintenance of engineering standards and design librariesMentor and/or train junior team mates on company standards, best practices, and design processesBe a technical team lead and act as a primary contact point for internal stakeholders on assigned projectsWork in cross-functional teams that include sales, operations, product innovation, and external contractorsIn accordance with company policy/ESA; overtime, work outside of regular hours, and being on call may be required at the discretion of the company All other duties as assigned QUALIFICATIONSEducation:College Diploma / University Degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar preferred.Experience: Minimum of 8-10 years of experience, preferably in a custom manufacturing or automation environmentExperience working with both the weldment and sheet metal functionality within a 3D softwareDesign experience with structural and stainless-steel productsExperience working with conveyor systems and or sanitary equipment used in the food industry an assetKnowledge: Familiar with pneumatics, hydraulics, and electro-mechanical designProficient in SolidWorks and the SolidWorks PDM VaultExcellent communication and organizational skillsComfortable working with engineering teammates and shop floor staffCOMPETENCIESResilienceYou have a get it done attitude and are skilled at removing barriers.
