We are seeking a creative and trend-savvy Product Developer with a keen eye for fashion and design, who can translate seasonal runway and social trends into elevated retail collections. This role is ideal for someone who excels at the intersection of creativity and execution—designing full seasonal accessory lines while collaborating with top factories to bring ideas to life. You’ll be part of a fun, fast-paced, business-driven team where your contributions directly shape our retail growth.
Location: Oakville (Hybrid – 3 days in office; some weeks may require 5 days in office)
Compensation: $55K – $62K annually
Status: Full-Time Only (No part-time positions available)
Key Responsibilities
Trend & Design Development
Stay highly focused on fashion and social trends, analysing runways, industry resources, and trend platforms to forecast seasonal directions.
Demonstrate cultural awareness and sensitivity in interpreting global fashion and social media trends.
Apply strong knowledge of colour theory, developing seasonal palettes, and maintaining colour cards/fabric swatches.
Translate trend forecasts into actionable designs and product concepts.
Product Creation & Development
Design and develop full seasonal accessories collections across national and private label brands.
Manage the transition of designs from concept through production-ready samples.
Create and execute detailed spec packages—including material details, sketches, and print-ready artwork—for overseas factory partners.
Communicate regularly with factories to ensure quality, accuracy, and adherence to timelines.
Balance design intent with cost requirements, maintaining costing files and ensuring product pricing aligns with development goals.
Technical & Creative Execution
Use advanced Illustrator and Photoshop skills to produce complex, print-ready artwork.
Source raw materials and manage the development of both soft and hard goods.
Work closely with cross-functional and overseas teams, particularly the China sourcing team, to meet deadlines.
Challenge existing processes by identifying opportunities for efficiency and improvement.
Research & Market Insight
Travel domestically and internationally for market research, trend analysis, and inspiration.
Present designs, seasonal concepts, and collections effectively with strong communication and presentation skills.
Qualifications
Minimum 4+ years of experience in design and accessory construction.
Post-secondary education in Fashion Design or Graphic Design.
Expertise in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop; strong working knowledge of Excel.
Experience in fashion accessories or home goods is an asset.
Proven ability to multitask, manage timelines, and stay organised in a collaborative environment.
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work in a team-driven, fast-paced setting.
