The Packaging Shed Supervisor is responsible for the overall storage, production, packing, and shipping of fresh potatoes.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Ensure an efficient and productive packing facility that meets customer requirements.
  • Aid supervisors to manage all hourly employees, including monitoring of performance and attendance; addressing disciplinary issues; directing work and assigning specific tasks; training of new employees or new functions.
  • Be an active member of the JHSC and oversee the Health & Safety Lead to ensure all staff are properly trained and adhere to company safety initiatives.
  • Collaborate with the sales team to ensure the schedule is optimal and orders ship on time.
  • Manage weekly inventory counts on packaging, pallets, and other materials as needed.
  • Monitor the quality control inspections to make any necessary adjustments or corrections as needed.
  • Direct & monitor adjusting of equipment such as sizers, washers, and scales.
  • Manage the shipping & receiving department to ensure all shipments are properly identified & labeled.
  • Manage quality (C-PIQ) & Canada GAP programs.
  • Oversee cleaning and maintenance programs, consisting of preventative and daily maintenance to the equipment.
  • Manage the filling and monitoring of potato storages.
  • Organize daily procurement of raw from grower storages to supply the packing sheds needs to fill customers’ orders.
  • Flexibility to work past normal work hours due to production & shipping times. (Some weekend work will be required.)
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCES:

  • Bachelor’s degree, college diploma or Journeymen Trade Certificate in the fields of either electrical, mechanical or welding/fabrication.
  • Experience in the growing and or packing of fresh potatoes or a background in agriculture would be an asset.
  • Experience of at least 5 years in the fresh potato business or a similar job function.
  • Excellent organizational and leadership skills.
  • Computer skills required (Microsoft Office).
  • Must work with a sense of urgency and be comfortable in an ever-changing fast-paced environment.
  • Must have a safety-first culture to complement and help drive our safety program.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills required.
