We have an exciting opportunity as an IT Senior Project Manager at the City of Burnaby. Reporting to the Director IT Portfolio and Business Relationship Manager, this position works closely with stakeholders in the organization to plan and implement medium to large, sized complex IT projects. The ideal incumbent manages day to day progress of multiple medium to large sized IT projects, and is responsible for deliverables of all project phases including initiation, planning, procurement, execution, control and closure, ultimately transitioning the project deliverables to operations/sustainment. The IT Senior Project Manager is accountable for delivery of all in scope project activities; develops, tracks and reports on the execution of project plans (financials, schedule, resource usage, issues, risk etc.) with input from Project Team members and other stakeholders; facilitates project communication amongst stakeholder groups; identifies and manages organizational change requirements for the project; manages the project scope change processes (acquiring approvals as required); manages team performance of project tasks; documents all findings and recommendations; develops and documents the Project Charter in collaboration with business owners and IT senior management; chairs the Project Steering Committee (PSC), working group(s) and subcommittees as required and prepares all project documentation and reports; performs other related duties as assigned. Follows Technology PMO best practices, standards and processes, including standard templates, governance requirements, and tools. We require a Master’s degree in information technology, computer science, business, computer engineering or a related discipline and 8 years of related experience in project management or supervision and PMP Certification, or, an equivalent combination of education, training and experience plus required technical or project. The role requires thorough knowledge of: project management techniques including management of budgets (operating and capital) procurement processes and administrative functions. Working knowledge and experience with agile as well as waterfall project management concepts, practices and deliverables. The role requires sound technical knowledge of administrative principles and practices, and applicable divisional policies and procedures. The role also requires skill in the use of various software applications including: MS Office, Jira, MS Project, Visio, and online project management tools. Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain concepts and topics to no subject matter experts and build consensus and credibility amongst diverse stakeholder groups is required. Driver’s Licence for the Province of British Columbia. This is a temporary full time position until December 31, 2022. This position will be posted until filled.
