We are currently seeking a motivated and experienced Heavy Duty Mechanic Apprentice to join our team and further develop their skills in a dynamic work environment.

The job:

As a 3rd year or above Heavy Duty Mechanic Apprentice you will have the opportunity to work alongside seasoned professionals in the field of heavy equipment maintenance and repair. This individual will learn how to properly maintain commercial motor vehicles according to DOT regulations and Company standards. Under the guidance of experienced mechanics, you will gain hands-on experience and technical knowledge necessary to become a proficient Heavy Duty Mechanic.

A day in the life* of an Apprentice Heavy Duty Mechanic:
Executing preventative Maintenance, including basic vehicle servicing to engine or transmission overhaul.
Diagnosing and repairing operational difficulties with heavy duty trucks and equipment.
Completing reports, work orders, order parts and perform other administrative duties.
Planning and scheduling repairs in M5 planner and procure all parts for successful plan.
Assisting in the review of mechanical write-ups on equipment and coordinate repair schedule.
Completing other responsibilities, as requested by management.
Attending to service calls as needed, or emergent situations in the field.
Performing afternoon assigned tasks, either continuing tasks from the morning or starting new ones
Cleaning up work areas



What’s required:
Apprentice Heavy Duty Mechanics must be able to:
Completion of 1st and 2nd year of certification.
Previous work in the waste industry is an asset.
Computer literate, have the ability to be trained on software systems and the willingness to learn.
Meet relevant criteria for safety sensitive functions according to Company standards
Use diagnostic software a plus
Follow detailed instructions and maintain accurate records
Operate any vehicle or equipment necessary to perform job
Possess physical ability to perform all aspects of job
