<h3>Job Description</h3><p>Job Description<p>Paladin Security is Hiring a Healthcare Access Control Security Officer!<p></p><p><strong>Location:</strong> Kentville, NS B4N 5E3<br /><strong>Employment Type:</strong> Full-Time<br /><strong>Pay Rate:</strong> $20.50/hour</p><p></p> Job Overview<p>As a Healthcare Access Control Security Officer, you will play an essential role in protecting the safety of patients, staff, and visitors by operating AI-powered weapon detection systems at Valley Regional Hospital. This role requires professionalism, excellent communication skills, and the ability to remain calm under pressure while providing a welcoming environment for all.</p><p></p>Key Responsibilities<ul><li> Operate and monitor AI-based weapon detection and access control systems at hospital entry points. </li><li> Engage with patients, visitors, and staff in a professional and empathetic manner during screenings. </li><li> Respond to system alerts, conduct secondary screenings, and escalate incidents as required. </li><li> Provide clear directions and reassurance to those entering the facility. </li><li> Maintain accurate incident logs and system performance records. </li><li> Collaborate with healthcare staff, security teams, and law enforcement. </li><li> Follow infection control and hospital safety protocols. </li><li> Contribute to a culture of respect, inclusivity, and safety within the hospital.</li></ul><p><strong>Requirements</strong></p>Requirements (Must-Haves)<ul><li> Must reside in <strong>Kentville or nearby, NS</strong></li><li> Must be legally eligible to work in Canada </li><li> Ability to work <strong>12-hour rotational shifts (days/nights)</strong></li><li> Valid <strong>Security License</strong> (Nova Scotia regulations) </li><li> Standard First Aid & CPR (CSA Approved) certification </li><li> Physically able to stand for extended periods and respond quickly to incidents </li></ul><p></p>Preferred / Assets<ul><li> Experience in healthcare security, law enforcement, or access control </li><li> Strong conflict de-escalation and customer service skills </li><li> Certifications in <strong>Use of Force (UoF)</strong> and <strong>Management of Aggressive Behavior (MOAB)</strong></li><ul><li><em>If not currently held, candidates can complete Paladin’s training program prior to onboarding (company-paid, with a 6-month commitment)</em></li></ul><li> Comfort with AI-based security systems</li></ul><p><strong>Benefits</strong></p><ul><li>Health Care & Dental coverage </li><li>Overtime pay eligibility </li><li>Paid vacation & sick days </li><li>Free uniforms with dry cleaning & tailoring allowance </li><li>Company-paid Security License </li><li>Ongoing training & professional development opportunities</li></ul></p></p>
