We are currently seeking a dedicated and passionate <b>on-site Health Care Assistant Preceptorship (HCA) Lab and Clinical Instructor</b> to support and guide students through their laboratory and clinical training, helping prepare them for successful entry into the healthcare workforce. <br><br>This <b>4-week in person Lab assignment begins on October 22, 2025</b>, with a day time schedule from <strong>Monday to Friday </strong>and plays a key role in preparing students for successful entry into the clinical placement which will follow starting <b>November 17, 2025</b>, that is <b>a fixed daytime schedule from </b>Monday to Friday<b> </b>depending upon site<b> </b>availability.<br><br>This position is based at our <b>Courtenay, BC campus</b> and plays a key role in ensuring students receive a comprehensive, hands-on educational experience that meets both regulatory standards and industry expectations. The ideal candidate will bring strong clinical knowledge, a supportive teaching approach, and a commitment to student success.<br><br>This Part-Time role offers variable hours up to 24-32 hours per week and has the potential to lead to future advancements within the college.<br><br>Rate Range<b>: $33 to $35/hour</b><br><br><b>Key Responsibilities</b>:<ul><li>Facilitate student learning in classroom, laboratory, and clinical settings, providing guidance and support throughout.</li><li>Deliver preset lesson plans, learning activities, and assessments aligned with course objectives.</li><li>Supervise students during clinical placements, ensuring safe, ethical, and competent care practices.</li><li>Ensure compliance with program accreditation standards, regulatory guidelines, and college policies.</li><li>Maintain accurate records of student attendance, grades, and evaluations.</li></ul><br /><b>Qualifications</b>:<ul><li>Two or more years of full-time nursing experience – required.<ul><li>2800 hours of nursing experience</li><li>nursing experience must include working with older adults with complex health needs</li><li>Nursing experience must include experience or orientation in home support and multi-level care</li></ul></li><li>Ability to teach adult learners (mentoring / instructing)<ul><li>Provincial Instructors Diploma and previous experience or</li><li>Aptitude and willingness to learn and obtain an Instructor Diploma (with our help)</li></ul></li></ul><b>Diversity and Inclusion:</b><br />Discover Community College is committed to fostering a diverse, inclusive, and equitable environment.
