The role is responsible for accessible, responsive, and integrated patient care at all times. It involves collaboration with health care providers, allied emergency service agencies, and other community agencies, and safe operation of vehicles and equipment as per Manitoba Provincial Regulations, Acts, and Shared Health policy. The incumbent will conduct themselves professionally, ethically, and align with Shared Health mission, vision, values, goals, objectives, and policies.</p><h3>Responsibilities</h3><ul><li>Provide care to patients as part of a multidisciplinary health care team.</li><li>Ensure safe, effective operation and use of vehicles and equipment as per regulations and policies.</li><li>Collaborate with health care providers, allied emergency service agencies, and community agencies.</li><li>Maintain professional, ethical standards and alignment with Shared Health values.</li></ul><h3>Experience</h3><ul><li>A combination of related training and/or experience is preferred, including:</li><li>Experience providing care as an Emergency Medical Responder.</li><li>Experience working in patient relations and/or in a customer service capacity.</li></ul><h3>Education</h3><ul><li>Graduate of an Emergency Medical Responder program held by an accredited Canadian educational institution, or a College of Paramedics of Manitoba approved equivalent.</li></ul><h3>Certification / Licensure / Registration</h3><ul><li>Certificate of Practice with the College of Paramedics of Manitoba – Member in good standing, at minimum at the Emergency Medical Responder level.</li><li>Must have a valid Class IV Manitoba driver’s license.</li><li>Basic Life Support (BLS), level C or equivalent.</li><li>Emergency Vehicle Operations Course (EVOC) from a certified training provider is desired.</li></ul><h3>Qualifications and Skills</h3><ul><li>Knowledge of:</li><li>College of Paramedics of Manitoba Standards of Practice.</li><li>Scope of Practice as documented in the Regulated Health Professions Act.</li><li>Manitoba Emergency Medical Response and Stretcher Transportation Act.</li><li>Manitoba Highway Traffic Act.</li><li>Shared Health clinical protocols, care maps and associated documents.</li><li>Personal Health Information Act (PHIA) and other applicable Shared Health policies.</li><li>Ability to communicate in multiple languages; bilingual positions may be required.</li><li>Understanding of LEADS framework: Lead themselves, Engage others, Achieve results, Develop coalitions, system transformation.</li><li>Experience with Shared Health ERS and Digital Health technology and equipment.</li></ul><h3>Physical Requirements</h3><ul><li>Physical Fitness Assessment required by an approved provider.</li><li>Job-related written test of clinical knowledge.</li><li>Travel by multiple vehicle types; exposure to high-stress, emotionally demanding situations and potential exposure to communicable disease.</li><li>Moderate to heavy physical effort; frequent lifting of patients and equipment.</li></ul><h3>Additional Information</h3><p>Shared Health values and supports employment equity and workplace diversity and encourages all qualified individuals to apply.
