To showcase and continue to deliver these ships with pride and quality craftsmanship, Irving Shipbuilding Inc. is seeking a new Director, Facilities to join their Senior Leadership Team. This position presents a momentous opportunity to transform the facilities management and operational effectiveness of the Halifax shipyard.
Reporting directly to the President, the Director, Facilities is responsible for leading the facilities team as it oversees and manages multiple sites to ensure their reliable and efficient operation. This role directs the preventive and predictive maintenance programs and coordinates annual capital enhancement plans. This strategic position will play a key role in building a strong team, maintaining machinery uptime, and communicating with staff to resolve project delays. Lastly, the Director, Facilities maintains constant contact with all the various functional disciplines across the Halifax Shipyard, Marine Fabricators, and Woodside Industries to ensure operational effectiveness.
The successful candidate will be exceptional at relationship management, have outstanding people skills, and be eager to put their stamp on the legacy of shipbuilding in Canada. The Director, Facilities must have a degree in engineering, Business Administration, or equivalent experience. Additionally, the successful candidate will have a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in facilities management, facilities development, and managing large teams. They should also possess excellent organizational, problem-solving, planning, and analytical skills in complex business, industrial, and operational environments.
