Job Duties

Assist and prepare detailed cost estimates for projects, quotes, and tenders.

Review of contract drawings, specifications, and quotes at the bidding stage.


Prepare estimates of probable costs of materials, labour and equipment for construction projects based on contract bids, quotations, contract drawings and specifications.

Quantity take-offs from the contract drawings and specifications.


Prepare an estimate using estimating software.

Prepare and distribute Request for Quotations, solicit quotations from subcontractors and suppliers.


Complete tender closing and tender submissions.

Build project schedule and budget.


Develop a quality control plan with the project manager and monitor compliance.

Strong knowledge of construction procedures, materials, and the PEI Building Code.


Read, interpret, and understand construction drawings and specifications, city codes and ordinances regarding building codes, permit issuance, and permit fees.

Continuously refine project costs and maintain supplier or trade price increases or decreases.


Attend site visits with trades to review the scope of work and finalize pricing.

Assist with overall project closeout.


Requirements/Qualifications

Familiar with PROCORE, CoConstruct preferred but not required.


Knowledge of Microsoft Office Excel required.

Credentials in Construction Management, Project Management, Estimating, Engineering, Business Admin or combined education and industry experience.


Over 3 years of proven project coordination success coordinating residential, commercial/industrial construction projects.

Over 3 years of experience estimating custom residential, commercial/industrial construction projects.


Ability to read and understand construction drawings.

Proficiency in meeting deadlines and managing multiple project schedules simultaneously.


Attention to detail.

Effective verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.


Ability to respond to pressure situations with a calm demeanor and a high sense of urgency.

Experience with design-build, lump sum, and construction contracts.


Strong knowledge of building codes and construction standards.

In-depth understanding of construction procedures, and materials.


Skilled in creating take-offs.

A background in dealing with clients and stakeholders would be an asset.
