Nucor Rebar Fabrication
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Construction Contracts teammate to join our Contracts Team in the Stoney Creek office. The ideal candidate will ensure that our contractual obligations are equitable, fall within our risk tolerances, and accurately reflect the scope of responsibilities. The Contracts teammate will have complete responsibility for the contract review and signing process, from the initial review and negotiation phases through to contract execution. The Contracts teammate will work closely with sales and operations across Canada to ensure that our contractual obligations are properly represented, risks are identified and mitigated, fair and favourable terms are agreed upon, and all contractual obligations are met.
KEY JOB FUNCTIONS
- Uphold the vision statement and core values of Nucor Rebar Fabrication.
- Liaise with and provide guidance and support to Canadian branches, especially to the sales and operations teams, to identify and properly adjust scope and pricing according to the intent of our bids.
- Negotiate with General Contractors, Consultants, Project Managers, external and internal legal counsels, and all other representatives to establish fair and acceptable contract terms until an agreement has been reached or payment has been received.
- Make revisions and amendments to construction contracts and purchase orders to minimize risks.
- Foster successful business relationships and business growth through knowledgeable, fair-minded negotiations, balancing risk tolerance with legitimate customer concerns and shared objectives.
- Streamline the process of ongoing and future contracts by standardizing contracts and negotiation processes.
- Establish connections between the scope of work, contract terms, change requests, supplementary conditions, amendments, and overall execution of job responsibilities to eliminate possible misinterpretations.
- Facilitate legal discussions on unresolved contractual issues.
- Stay current with relevant laws and regulations changes that may impact previously agreed terms and future contracts.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
- Candidates with experience in the Construction Industry will be given priority.
- 5 or more years of experience in contracts management or strong knowledge of contract law, including contract drafting and negotiation.
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration, law, construction, engineering or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Excellent reading comprehension, communication, negotiation, problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Able to learn new concepts and construction-related terminology quickly.
- Ability to conduct research as required.
- Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
- Strong attention to detail while reading and interpreting information for long periods of time
- Ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
- Proficient in Outlook, Word, Excel, Acrobat Reader and/or Bluebeam and Navision.
- Bilingual in English and French – both written and verbal is considered a strong asset.
