We are committed to the promotion of BC sport history, heritage and culture, presiding over a collection of more than 27,000 artifacts, 100,000 archival documents and dozens of galleries, exhibits and displays spanning more than 150 years of sporting accomplishments. For more than 56 years, we have honoured teams, builders, athletes, pioneers, and media, including through our annual Induction Event which serves as our primary fundraiser. About the role of the CEO The Chief Executive Officer plans, leads, directs, and coordinates all business and operational activities aligned with our Inspiration 2026 strategic plan, including a strong emphasis on capacity building through sponsorship sales, fund-raising and marketing. Rising above the baseline of revenue generation and facility enhancement, the CEO will work with our Curator and staff team to champion the inspirational stories that are synonymous with the BC Sports Hall of Fame, our Honoured Members and Teams and the galleries, exhibits and displays that bring those stories to life. Working from our sports hall and museum at BC Place, the CEO provides the strategic and tactical leadership required to achieve the organization’s goals and objectives in celebrating our honoured members, creating collaborative partnerships and invoking inspirational experiences. The latter includes oversight of the Induction Event and other special events, the conception, construction and activation of our galleries and the delivery of our youth education programs and outreach throughout British Columbia, including through the BC Sports Hall Network. Reporting to the Chair of the BC Sports Hall of Fame and accountable to the Board of Trustees, the CEO is a dynamic leader within the greater sport and business communities in British Columbia. As a spokesperson for the Sports Hall, the CEO serves as the primary liaison with our corporate, community and media partners, government agencies and other local, provincial, national and international Halls of Fame in Canada and around the world, along with sports fans and the general public. As the ideal candidate to serve as CEO of the BC Sports Hall of Fame, you are a highly-collaborative, innovative leader who is adept at building partnerships, strengthening community relationships throughout the province and inspiring staff and stakeholders alike. You are seasoned at prospecting, identifying and engaging corporate sponsorships and leading fund-raising campaigns. Armed with the ability to lead and empower staff through organizational change and growth, you possess strong business acumen and financial management skills, both central to the growth strategy of the organization. Your critical thinking consistently takes on the big picture. The BC Sports Hall will benefit from your success in marketing, sales, and revenue growth. You have a minimum of 5 years of senior management experience, ideally in the area of business development and financial management. Staff development and strategic and operational planning are second nature to you. You have earned a university degree in a relevant discipline (sport, business, administration, marketing & communications, etc.). Experience in the sport system and/or the promotion of sport history and heritage is an asset but a passion for sport is a fundamental prerequisite. Previous private or public sector experience reporting to, or working with, a Board of Directors is an important consideration. BC Sports Hall of Fame – Inspiring the future.
