Dexter Construction Company Limited

The Municipal Group of Companies is seeking to add a lawyer for our legal team. The Municipal Group comprises more than 30 operating companies in the civil construction, waste management, mining, transportation, and courier industries with operations in Atlantic Canada, Quebec, and Florida. Well-known companies within the Municipal Group include Dexter Construction, REgroup, and MBW Courier.

The successful candidate will work independently and with other members of the legal team and will report to the Vice President and General Counsel. Each lawyer in our group maintains a general practice, but for this position, a well-established skill set in corporate law will be beneficial.



Key responsibilities include:

  1. Assisting with acquisitions and wind-ups as well as day-to-day corporate matters.
  2. Assisting with the management of corporate filings and records.
  3. Reviewing, drafting, and assisting with the negotiation of commercial agreements, tenders, and RFPs.
  4. Identifying and summarizing legal and business issues.
  5. Conducting research on regulatory and business issues.
  6. Providing day-to-day support to individual business units and other departments including Operations, Finance, Human Resources, and IT.

The successful candidate will demonstrate the following qualifications and abilities:


  1. A law degree, plus a minimum of 3 years of legal practice.
  2. A strong understanding of corporate and business law, including the management of corporate records.
  3. The ability to collaborate with other members of the legal team and deliver high-quality work product.
  4. The ability to collaborate with other professionals and digest technical materials.
  5. Interpersonal skills and sound judgment.
