What is the opportunity?
As an Analyst, your role will mitigate legal, operational, economic risk, and reputational risk associated with derivatives transactions. You will also provide quality service to our internal business partners and external clients and represent the Bank in a professional manner at all times.
What will you do?
Draft and review ISDA confirmations covering plain vanilla and structured OTC derivative transactions initially covering the equity asset classes and thereafter supporting other asset classes, as necessary, and directly negotiate terms of the confirmation with counterparties
Escalate any unusual behavior as well as any processing issues to the Team Manager in a timely manner following the BCS Escalation Policy
Assist the Team Manager / Department Head on projects, process improvements or new business initiatives as requested
Ensure that all documentation comply with jurisdictional regulations, ISDA and current market practice, or where there are variations, that they are acknowledged and understood by the appropriate individuals and teams
Daily chase and follow up on all outstanding (unsigned) confirmations
Eliminate lengthy delays in confirmation execution and escalate inevitable delays promptly and appropriately
Be an information conduit between London, Toronto & New York Derivative Confirmations teams
Take on ad hoc projects related to cost reduction and efficiency enhancement goals
Participate in regular team meetings which also includes but is not limited to knowledge sharing on a specific derivative product
Regulatory initiatives – assist Regional Management to pre-emptively adapt to evolving regulatory requirements, stay abreast of the latest developments (e.g.
DFA, Clearing) and their implications to make recommendations.
Track and govern self-identified gaps and audit comments
Continue to develop product / market knowledge to ensure daily processes effectively mitigate operational risks
Support colleagues during busy periods by sharing workload as applicable. This includes cross-training on other desks within the department to provide relief during absences and high volume periods
As a more experienced member of the team, assist colleagues with any day to day issues
What do you need to succeed?
Must-have
Bachelor’s Degree
Strong knowledge of Derivatives Products in general, standard market practices and trading terminology
Understanding of the complexity of Derivatives transactions
Familiarity with the various processes involved in the confirmation lifecycle and confirmation workflow
Ability to prepare a wide range of legal documents for financial transactions
Quick learner who is able to thrive in a fast paced environment
Willingness to learn and contribute to the team
Nice-to-have
Familiarity with Murex, Infinity, Sophis, ActiFlow, and MarkitWire
Experience in capital markets operations
2-3 years of experience with ISDA documentation
Microsoft Excel (formulae and VBA)
An understanding of market/counterparty/credit/operational/regulatory risk
Project Management experience
